Visualization and Sketching-How Lamar's Bad Prank Won A Bubba-sized Trophy

Visualization and Sketching-Using How Lamar's Bad Prank Won a Bubba-sized Trophy by Crystal Allen Chapter 13 pages 126-129

You know, after reading that chapter in the book, How Lamar's Bad Prank Won a Bubba-sized Trophy by Crystal Allan, I have a new appreciation for chocolate covered anything.  It is not a "must read" but rather "if- you- don't- read- this -your- life- will- be- devoid- of- purpose" read.  I used the chapter  as a read aloud.  I worked with some intermediate One Way Dual Language or bilingual students. These great minds  were instructed to respond however they wanted on blue piece of paper. They were to do this during and after reading.  I shared my response when I finished the read aloud. Then we all shared our thoughts and sketches.  I wish I could have recorded the responses when they discovered the secret about the peanuts.  It was classic! Many of the students had their hands over their mouths, while others moaned.  Still others said, "EWWWWW!"  There was definitely a reading transaction happening before my very eyes. Check out their sketches and responses below. This was so much fun!  The students helped one another take pics of their work from different angles, using my ipod and smart phone.  They had a blast and wanted to create a video about this work.  We didn't have enough time to do it all.  It's amazing what happens when you add technology tothe things we do.  The kids go crazy.  They were so excited about the possibility of showing off their work.  Enjoy!
