Poetry Transactions-Rosenblatt's inspired-Purvis Required
I made some Knovio presentions for a digital reading project I am working on with 5th graders. I was working with Michelle G on this and we wanted the students to "get into poetry" so it's transactional. So there's a connection between author and student. Sort of like in You Gotta Be the Book by Jeff Wilhelm. I've been studying Purvis and the Porcupine and Rosenblatt's The Reader, The Text and The Poem (I hope I got that right!) Now onto Beach and his Reading Response Theories. It's all so very nice to contemplate.
Here's some work coming from this mediation:
Nothing big, just sayin'!
Dona Pepita-Longer Version
Batter's Box
Beats on Top of Your Head
Plus I wanted to leave you with a little Rosenblatt Things--one, two, three..
It's the transactional thing
Requires so much bling
In the mind moving, numbing
Strumming to the beat
of the different drummers
It's a transactional thing
Some give and take
The Reader, The Text and the Poem
I choose my way
Now Purvis to sway
The aesthetic comes into play
Making meaning
It's all transactional
No matter the creative response
Within or without the perverbial box
Left on a Beach of responses
Which one are you?
I could be this,
I could be that,
I could do this
I could do that,
Some mezclas do occur...
Indeed
Is just transactional
Make the exchange
Make the change from
efferent to aesthetic
Aesthetically inclined
Ro Ro Rosenblatt
Whatcha got to say
Where ya moving now?
Into the Poem
She seems to stay
Cause that's where it's at
The Deeper you go
There you are
Thanks to dear
Louise Rosenblatt
