As I was dreaming this morning, I remembered the website Notegraphy. My students have a lot of poetry that they have published in the classroom. I was thinking that the could use the website to publish their poetry and then add it to their blogs. We could even have all their poetry printed and made into a class anthology. Not only that, but you can download the images as a png file. There is so much you can do with this. I could take my poem and upload it to Camtasia or Stupeflix and create a voice narration with it. I could add music too. I really like this website. I will be using it in January with my students. (They could be using it to write their expository pieces as well.)
On your marks, get set, go! This is a digital place to discover, share ideas, writing, life's journeys, and whatever else happens along the way. Just Write, Baby! Go!

Words of Freedom-Soy libre
Not to worry, I will add the accents tomorrow. I just wanted to get it out tonight. Blogspot doesn't allow for accents in Spanish. Disculpe por ahora.
Words of Freedom-Soy Libre
by Maureen Ucles
I can
post what I want
say what I want
expresarme
I can
let the words fly
off of the page
from my thoughts
pensamientos
locked deep inside
waiting to be released
to be expresada
I can
write what I want
be who I want
not considering you
anymore
not in the least
I can
be free
how I want
no holding back
letting go
freedom rings
in my ears
en mi corazon
en mi alma
Yo puedo
expresarme
para librarme
demonstrarte
quien soy
Yo puedo volar
alcanzar mis suenos
mis deseos
que tengo dentro
mi espirtu
no voy
a quedar callada
no mas
no voy a
escuchar sus palabras negativas
no mas
me quedo
feliz y libre
para expresarme
and be me
that I was meant to be
YA

Estrellita-Star Gazing-first version
Here is a poem that I wrote about a few years ago. I think I will rename it Estrellita.
And it goes a little something like this...
And it goes a little something like this...
Estrellita
By Maureen Twinkle Ucles
Twinkle, twinkle
Little star
Got me wonderin'
Estrellita
Where you are
Out in space
Light years away
Just twinkling
All the way
to the bank?
Como no?
Hardly...
Twinkling there
Twinkling here
Twinkling
Just twinkling
for whom?
For what?
Seems all full
of nothingness
Heard someone
say
Hey-
If you twinkle
They will come
Only in a field
abandoned
Out in far right field
dreams unrealized
Put on hold
I have
Thrown in the towel
for the moment
at least
Twinkle, twinkle
Como brilla
Tan contenta
Little star
estrellita
Got me wonderin'
So far
away
Oblivious to the day
That I might just
UP and WALK
Away
Wish it were
Today
Right now
This instance
Tonight
Great time to
take flight
Just might
You trippin'
No
Hardly
Twinkle, twinkle
CasaNova's
Nebulae
Hits my eye
In between
Primal scream
Out of
of my mind
heart and soul
Twinkle, Twinkle
You got the ansa?
to my ponderings
chalk full of wonderins'
Trying to find some meaning
Meaning
Voided
Beyond belief
Re-placed
Re-moved
Re-jected
by a twinkle, twinkle
from someone else's estrella
all these years
sweat, blood and some tears
for what?
Some things
Some place
Some thoughts
Worth it all?
Tal vez
Depende
Quien sabe voz?
but makes me not
so so encantada
got a fistful of thanks
Por favorcito
going through my
hands like water
escaping through a
sieve
being vetted for
the last time
final sequence
spent
So sorry, so sad
Pink slip delivered
tristemente
in a brown bag
open it up
Nah!
A little later
mas tardecito voz
Ahorita voy
Can't bare the news
Can deal with it all
what I'm goin' through
WHATEVER
Movin' on
Vaya pues
To a theatre near you
Twinkle, Twinkle
Adios
Emergent Bilingual Poetry Translanguaging
Bilingue Emergente
Emerging from the Cocoon
By Maureen Ucles
Soy bilingue
Emergente
Not an emergency
Just me
I am
An emergent
Bilingual
Like the sound of
it
Kinda distinguished
Distinguida
Gave me an excuse
To be
Me
Solamente
All these years
batallando
con uno o otro
en mi mente
Mind games
It's one or the other
Ingles o Espanol
Watch it son
You might
get some
Spanglish
In your orejas
Stop that
This instant
But now?
Hey I am
beyond a disease
I am
Bilingual Emergente
Sounds sort of
elegant
Elegante
sofisticado
Ya know?
Not that dumb
after all
No burros allowed
in my crowd
You get me?
Say yes
Dile si,si, si (can't get the accents on Blogger)
Perdon
Ah!
just my mind
Readin' off the English
Thinkin' in Spanish
What comes out of my mouth?
I am hungry
tengo hambre hombre!
Now famished!
Ya know?
Just chillin
Toma la suave
'Cause carne asada
Just met some burgers
and papas fritas
Mezclando con orgullo
cause ya gotta know
I am bilingue emergente
Proud to be
Simply
Simplemente
